“Creating has always been a part of my world but it was only a few years ago that I experienced the pleasures of painting.”
“I enjoy the process of researching and experimenting and believe that no learning is wasted. It builds a knowledge base that enables the creation of art that is exciting to view and make.
Currently the world of traditional gold gilding is a major focus and it requires a great breadth of knowledge and skill. It is challenging but exciting to learn. I have used gold leaf in many past paintings utilising modern techniques. A fondness for gold and all things whimsical and beautiful inspires me. Exquisite fabrics and fashion are also themes in many of my works.
An appreciation of the old masters is motivating me to hone the relevant skills and techniques in order to emulate these beautiful paintings from the past but with a modern interpretation of the style.
I have also completed a number of works that combined my love of embroidery with the use of watercolours. Hand embroidery is becoming a lost art form and although it is time-consuming to complete it adds a sense of luxury and uniqueness to the paintings.
Creating beautiful pieces of art for others to enjoy is something I hope to continue.”
